Since its debut 2003, the Penghu Ocean Fireworks Festival has become a beloved summer tradition, lighting up the night sky and drawing visitors to Penghu each year. The festival is one of the top reasons people flock to Penghu.
For a memorable experience, visitors can choose from four scenic tours aside from the popular boat trip departing from Magong Island: the Magong City Tour, Huxi Tour, Nanhuan Tour, and Beihuan Tour. Each tour boasts unique natural and cultural sights. For those seeking a tranquil escape from the crowds, Huxi, close to Magong, is ideal for its quiet countryside charm and soothing sounds of ocean waves.
For the Huxi Tour, a scenic journey unfolds along County Road 204. Start with a walk on Yimen Beach and let ocean waves caress your feet in tranquility. Continue through Lintou Park and pass by the colored chimney of Jianshan Power Station, where you can enjoy views of Lizhengjiao Beach, Long Men Gu Lang, and Guoye Brick Factory, among others. Around mid-day, stop for lunch at Huxi Village. After lunch, visit Nanliao Village to discover traditional stone houses cleverly built by Penghu’s early settlers. Then, head to Beiliao’s Kueibi Mountain. If the tide is right, walk through the shallows to reach Chi Islet. After the day winds down, make your way to Qingluo Beach, a hidden gem where you can watch local windsurfers and canoeists show off their skills. In the distance, the wind turbines of Zhongtun churn slowly as the sun graceullydips into the horizon.
