The Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters of the Tourism Administration, MOTC, is thrilled to present the 2024 Penghu Music Festival, a grand celebration set to extend the cool summer vibes into fall. Running from August 30 to November 3 at the Guanyinting Recreation Area in Magong City, this year's festival promises a dazzling array of musical performances and breathtaking "Luminous Island" art installations. These vibrant displays will transform the park into an illuminated wonderland, showcasing the enchanting allure of Penghu. Visitors of all ages are invited to immerse themselves in the magic of light, wind, and music at the 2024 Penghu Music Festival!
Last year’s festival received international acclaim for its light environment design, winning several prestigious awards, including the Platinum Award for Landscape Design-Public Landscapes at the London Design Awards, the Gold Award for Conceptual Design-Exhibitions & Events, the Honor Award for Landscape Architecture Design/Parks and Open Spaces, and the Bronze Award for Lighting Works and Lighting Art Design at the MUSE Design Awards. These accolades have once again placed Penghu in the global spotlight.
This year, the light environment is curated by an elite team led by internationally renowned lighting artist Wen-chuan Huang. Celebrated for their award-winning creations, such as the 2022 Novum Design Award - Gold, the 2023 London Design Awards - Gold, and the 2024 French Design Awards – Platinum, the team aims to push the boundaries of artistic expression with their latest creative installations in Penghu.
Starting from the entrance, visitors will be greeted by the " Luminous Island" installation, featuring a vibrant flock of terns soaring above basalt landscapes, creating an immersive light zone that reflects the archipelago’s lively spirit. A special area designed for young social media enthusiasts, blending local elements with a fresh, romantic ambiance, offers perfect photo opportunities. The overall design allows visitors to interact closely with the installations, such as the "Fables of the Wind" light setup, which incorporates elements from the beloved fairytale "Cinderella," including the iconic pumpkin carriage, evoking feelings of romance, happiness, and childhood fantasies. This enchanting fairytale world is a must-visit spot for capturing unforgettable moments. Adding to the festival's warmth and charm is the "Crab-tivating Thanks" installation. Designed with interactive features, the lighting installation can move freely, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for visitors.
From August 30 to September 27, the stage area at the 2024 Penghu Music Festival will come alive with daily events, offering an array of exciting activities. Festival highlights include "CG KTV," "Wind Chasing Cinema," and the "Penghu Grand Stage." At "CG KTV," talented DJs will spin golden hits non-stop, inviting everyone who knows the tunes to grab the mic and sing their heart out. "Wind Chasing Cinema" will feature 14 classic film screenings every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and on September 1 and 22 at Guanyingting Recreation Area, allowing visitors to enjoy beloved movies in the refreshing sea breeze. The "Penghu Grand Stage" will showcase stellar performances by an exciting lineup of groups from all over Taiwan and Penghu, ensuring that every day is packed with excitement and every night sparkles with entertainment at the Guanyinting Recreational Area.
The 2024 Penghu Music Festival is a centerpiece of the "9th Penghu Autumn Festival" tourism series, which kicks off on August 30 at Guanyingting Recreation Area. This annual celebration is also part of the broader "2024 Penghu Four Seasons Tourism" initiative, which includes the "2024 Penghu Cycling Festival," the "2024 Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon," and the "2024 Penghu Salty Mists Art Season." Additionally, the launch of the "Penghu Tourism Discount Passport" is set to offer a variety of promotions through a dedicated LINE official account in partnership with local businesses. The passport covers five key themes: dining, accommodation, attractions, shopping, and transportation, providing great discounts for both domestic and international tourists as they explore Penghu.
