In order to build summer elements of freshness, tranquility, and energy conservation, as well as the brand image, tourism campaigns around the Tropic of Cancer in Taiwan during this midsummer were integrated. Penghu National Scenic Area Administration and Maritime and Port Bureau held the event, “2016 Taiwan Summer Solstice 235-Penghu Yuweng Island Lighthouse Grass Concert” at 18:30 on June 19th, and almost 400 tourists and local people attended this event to enjoy a romantic night.
 
As it was a bright sunny day on the 19th, “Sunset at Siyu”, one of the famous eight wonders in Penghu, was extraordinarily stunning, and tourists were impressed by the view from Yuweng Island lighthouse. This event was held in a form of grass concert to create a romantic atmosphere and promote energy conservation. Due to the lighthouse tourism promotion of Ministry of Transportation and Communications, at 18:51, the moment of sunset, guests, including Wayne Liu, Tourism Bureau Deputy Director, Cheng Wu-fu, Penghu County Advisory Officer, Chen Shuang-chuan, Penhu County Deputy Speaker, and Hsu Yueh-li, Siyu Township Mayor, connected the bicycle inflators to LED lights. While the audience was cheering, the lighthouse, that guides the fishing boats on the sea, was lit, reaching the peak of the event.
 
There were some more features of this event. Members of Penghu Road Running Association and their families and the Bike Association started their half-day running and cycling tour at 3pm. They arrived the venue at sunset time, building a brand image of sport tourism for Penghu. Siyu Township Wai-ann Elementary School presented a war drum performance as the opening of the event to promote the tradition folk arts. Furthermore, several music groups were invited to perform at the concert of the event. Music of Gaillardia Island Orchestra presented Taiwanese Folk Song Suite-String Quartet. Penghu Youth Symphony presented John Williams Highlights of classic movie scores, "and Pagezi Music sung several Taiwanese pop songs, such as "Big Hug" by A-Lin and "Calla Lily Love" by Jam Hsiao. All audience members quickly immersed themselves in the romantic atmosphere.
 
Penghu National Scenic Area Administration stated, through the series events of 2016 Taiwan Summer Solstice 235, that the Tourism Bureau hopes to establish a brand of events to be promoted into the international market, creating the image of “the beautiful island at Tropic of Cancer—Taiwan”. Therefore, nearby cities can collaborate to attract more tourists from home and abroad to enjoy the midsummer experiences in Penghu, an oceanic island at the border between the subtropics and the tropics.
