The intertidal zone in Penghu is rich in biodiversity and a great location for tourists to experience ocean ecology. The intertidal zone is located between Kueibi Mountain and Chiyu in Beiliao Village, Huxi Township. When the tide fades away, a rare gravel beach trail will slowly reveal itself. The change in tide and topographical change look just like the miracle of Moses, where he parted the Red Sea as narrated in the Bible. For tourists planning their fun trip to the Chiyu, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration will post the recommended tidal timetable on its official website (latest news) and with the Chrysanthemum Island Fans Group for public reference. Travel agencies are welcome to promote this tidal timetable so that tourists can plan safe and enjoyable vacations.
In this tidal timetable, the times of flood tide and ebb tide are converted to dates and weekdays as in the Western calendar, and their times and tidal ranges are specified. Based on the tidal timetable published by the Central Weather Bureau, it is estimated that the trail will appear three hours before the low tide. Three hours before the low tide to one hour after the low tide, four hours in total, is a safe period for tourists to visit the region. Tourists can visit the beach during this four-hour period. Other than during this period, for their own safety, visitors should avoid going to the beach. Besides enjoying the legendary ocean parting scene, they can experience the ecology in the intertidal zone and the beautiful terrain in the geopark. For details, please visit:
