The "2022 Penghu Fun Light Music Festival" ended on a high note on 24th September 24th. With news of the festival’s overall lighting environment being awarded the Gold Winner of the Landscape Design (New) – Landscape Renovation category under the TITAN Property Awards organized by the International Awards Associate, IAA, the festival has once again brought Penghu into the international spotlight. The theme of the lighting environment of the 2022 Penghu Fun Light Music Festival - Windy Splendor is the pursuit of wind. With a romantic and unique lighting environment which integrated the features of the northeast monsoon with the elements of music and lighting art, the Festival debut to international acclaim.
     With the sea breeze as its main appeal, the 2022 Penghu Fun Light Music Festival properly managed the music festival and lighting environment in the first-ever attempt to transform the lighting festival into an event featuring a confluence of wind, light, music, and stories. The layout of the lighting environment was inspired by the concepts of “wind” and “light” which characterized Penghu Island, and aimed to evoke a warm and romantic lighting atmosphere for the Penghu Fun Light Music Festival. The design concept of the Festival centered around line inscriptions which generally featured colorful illuminated paintings made of neon light tubes and stereoscopic sculptures. As night fell, twinkling lights reflected off Penghu’s beaches; as the music played on, the dazzling neon lights tangled with the wind to create an amazing visual spectacle. The immersive audio-visual experience, in conjunction with dotting luminous kites, highlighted the night and elicited amazement from onlookers.
       This was the design team’s first attempt to integrate an area-wide lighting environment with the Guanyinting Coastal Park, one of Penghu’s famous attractions. Guanyinting Coastal Park, which is characterized by heavy sea wind, posed great challenges to light engineering. Despite the challenges, the light show was perfectly executed, and lighting works on the stage enhanced the audio-visual effects of the concert. This walking advertisement themed for the pursuit of wind, opened up opportunities for tourists to admire the elaborate engineering behind integrating lighting aesthetics with Penghu’s attractions.
