Penghu National Scenic Area Administration (hereafter referred to as “the Administration”) is organizing a tourism activity, entitled “Primitive Winter: One- day Tour of Old Houses in Nan Liao and the Beach Scenery in Bei Liao,” for the low season from October 1st to November 30th, 2014. Tourists can enjoy the rustic view in Nan Liao and Bei Liao of Hu Xi Township in one day. During the tour, tourists will obtain (1) a certificate of the Bei Liao Sea Passage. Anyone who uploads and shares the personal pictures, taken in the S-Passage between Kuibi Mountain and Chiyu of Bei Liao, and leaves messages on the “Primitive Winter: One- day Tour of Old Houses in Nan Liao and the Beach Scenery in Bei Liao” activity page will be provided with a beautiful certificate which is made and sent by the Administration. (2) In-depth visit and experience of old houses in Nan Liao: Participants will experience simmering sweet potatoes, roaming around Nan Liao on a bullock cart, stamping on bull dung to make the “Bull Dung Cake” which is used as firewood, piling coral stones, cooking fish on the “Fish Stove” as well as learning to cover their faces with cloth in a traditional way and making fishing tackle with silver grass.


Only 10 people in each theme of the “Primitive Winter: One- day Tour of Old Houses in Nan Liao and the Beach Scenery in Bei Liao” are required to make a group to begin the tour. The tourist who joins the activity to learn the traditional face-covering art can take the cloth back as a souvenir. The first 750 people who sign up for this activity can learn the art free and the first 1,000 people who register for the roaming Nan Liao on a bullock cart can enjoy the special offer. The Administration said that in order to enhance the impression of the “Parting Sea”of Kuibi Mountain which was successfully built in 2013 and remind people of the human touch and friendliness in Nan Liao Village, the organizers have particularly integrated the beautiful beach tour near Kuibi Mountain with the traditional reminiscent tour of the old houses in nearby Nan Liao to give the belt tour more character. Even in winter, tourists can have a rustic and special Penghu experience which combines antiquity and modernity while witnessing the in-depth beauty of Penghu.
