In order to stimulate the tourism industries in Penghu County and Kaohsiung City - which were devastated by the TransAsia Airways plane crash and the gas explosion incident on August 1st, respectively – the Tourism Bureau, MOTC held the “Thriving Prosperity – Kaohsiung and Penghu Tourism Promotion” joint press conference at the Taipei Visitor Information Center with tour operators from Kaohsiung City and Penghu County. The press conference took place on September 15th between 15:00 and 16:00, where the concept of the “Three Greats and Two Plentys” was unveiled. “Three Greats” represent Great Weather, Great Seafood and Great Atmosphere, while “Two Plentys” include “Plenty of Discounts” and “Plenty of Goodies”. By implementing integrated domestic and international marketing campaigns, it is hoped that the Kaohsiung and Penghu tourism industries can be revitalized through diverse marketing channels so as to rebuild the confidence of the local tour operators and thereby help Kaohsiung and Penghu recover from the disasters.


The press conference was jointly organized by the Central Government, Kaohsiung City Government, Penghu County Government as well as local industries and organizations, demonstrating the unity, consensus, and confidence of the Taiwanese people. According to the Administrative Deputy Minister of the MOTC Fan Chih-Ku during his speech, “Penghu’s brand as one of the “Most Beautiful Bays in the World” and an “international holiday island” is imprinted in the minds of travelers, therefore it is hoped that the media will help promote the brand.” Next, Penghu County Magistrate Wang Chien-Fa took to the stage to market the 9 major promotional offers of Penghu County, including subsidies to tour operators, roaming Penghu Give Me Five fun travel vouchers, incentives for company tour groups to visit Penghu, cycling in Formosa, seamless tourist shuttle buses, Love you for Eternity – Revisiting Penghu free accommodation voucher lucky drawing, tourism recommendations in Jiangxi, China, the 2014 Penghu Marathon, and the F/W Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club marketing event. The promotional activities are set to effectively increase Penghu’s exposure both domestically and abroad, in turn attracting travelers from around the world to visit the most beautiful and blissful bay in the world so that they can support Penghu by stimulating its tourism industry and continue tourism fever during the peak season!


The Tourism Bureau, MOTC suggested, “In addition to integrating and launching these domestic and international promotional offers, the “Guideline for Implementing Subsidies for Tour Operators to Promote Tourism in Kaohsiung City and Penghu County” is to be implemented, where a total of NT$15 million will be provided as subsidies. Furthermore, promotional marketing packages have also been launched in 6 countries including Japan and Korea to reinforce the incentives for international travelers to visit Penghu and Kaohsiung. Additionally, Taiwan Tour Bus operators are incorporated to provide promotional offers. By employing the most direct, quickest and attractive incentives to promote and market tourism, it is hoped that the local tourism markets in Kaohsiung and Penghu will be reinvigorated. In turn, the aim is to stimulate the overall industry and economic development, as well as to rally the strength of the world to support Penghu and Kaohsiung!
