Diversity of ecological resources in Penghu area provides tremendous potential for tourism and recreation development; in order to be compatible with the sustainable development of resources, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration intends to popularize the rising volunteer services and tourism activities, allowing participant to use working service to replace the general consumer entertainment, and melt into local nature and human environment or join the island conservation effort in person to drive local residents to care their surrounding environment, thus achieving the goal of local community development and ecological conservation.
      Therefore, entrusted by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration, the National Penghu University of Science and Technology hold two echelons of “tourism activities of volunteer in Penghu area- Caizhai Restoration in Nanliao” in March 2014 and August 2014. The activity of each echelon takes seven days and six nights, taking Taiwan volunteer and international volunteer as the recruits, with Nanliao in Huxi Township as the venue. Because Huxi Nanliao village maintain traditional Penghu rural atmosphere, we hope, through activities courses arrangement, besides helping repair Caizhai, assisting agricultural fields and activating Caizhai, we can also get knowledge of Penghu Caizhai method, understand the cultural history and life pattern, reappearing the vitality and sustainable heritage, and allow more people to enjoy simple and beautiful Penghu settlements style. Currently, the first echelon of Volunteer tourism activities in Taiwan had obtained successful completion on March 13, 2014 to March 19, 2014. During the activity, participants assisted residents in engaging in farm work and repairing Caizhai, and with the community resource, shaping Nanliao entrance image, improve the space design of abandoned old house and tree house, finally we get quite fruitful results of the activities.
      Now, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration continue the second echelon activity of international volunteer recruitment, with the main recruitment subjects being over 18 years old passport holders of other nations; predetermined number of recruitment is 15 people; then event starts from August 27, 2014 to September 2, 2014. The online registration starts from today, and the dead line is July 15. If predetermined number of recruitment is exceeded, screening mechanism regarding to expertise and experience of registration staff will be set.
