We will be holding the “2014 Penghu International Ocean Beach Sports Carnival” event for the first time in hopes of encouraging Penghu to wipe away the impact on the local relevant travel industry caused by the Penghu air crash, further re-invigorating Penghu’s tourism industry at the same time.
The event even invited “Ultra-Marathon Mom”, Chiu Shu-Rong to act as the event image ambassador; Chiu Shu-Rong is the national record holder for the ultra-marathon in Taiwan, and after conquering Taiwan, she further created several outstanding performances overseas; she has participated in ultra-marathon races in countries including Greece, the Netherlands, Japan and France, and has been honored as the “best female runner in Asia”.
The 4-day “2014 Penghu International Ocean Beach Sports Carnival”event includes the beach running contest at Aimen and Lintou Beach on September 13th and 14th, where local tourism proprietors and residents are invited to join the ocean beach fitness walking event, the 6Km beach run and the long-distance 12 Km beach run.
The Lifeguard Championships will be held at the Shihli Beach on September 20th and 21st, which specially introduced the same lifesaving contest as that in Australia. The venues for the domestic lifesaving contests in the past have primarily been swimming pools, but this time, the contest is specially relocated to Shihli Beach. This not only raises the difficulty of the contest, but also increases the ability of spectators to watch. Other than the event contest on rescue boards, rescue tubes, beach flags and ocean ironman, relevant safety lessons for water recreation will also be held on the beach, including CPR, lifesaving tools, and how to save oneself when muscle cramps occur.
The carnival contestants’ nights on September 13th and 20th will be launched at the Guanyin Temple Recreational Park, where the American rock and roll group filled with explosive force will be led by Lin Tsung-Hsing, the warm singer Irene Luo (9/13), the breezy singer Mandy Tao (9/20) will be heating up the Penghu nights at the end of summer and the beginning of fall, so that all travelers visiting Penghu and contestants may deeply experience an atmosphere filled with passion and ocean vitality. It is hoped that the highlights introduced by the carnival event to Penghu may eliminate pain and lead towards hope in order to encourage Penghu!
Online registration is being accepted for the “2014 Penghu International Ocean Beach Sports Carnival” contest event, with the registration period being held from August 6th to August 31st.
