In response to crowds likely visiting popular attractions during the May 1 extended weekend and the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Response Guidelines: Social Distancing Precautions formulated by the Centers for Disease Control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration of the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications will implement visitor control measures for Kueibishan Geopark in Beiliao to prevent overcrowding during the epidemic control period.
  1. Control the number of visitors into the "Parting the Sea" area by different time periods and number of people allowed based on the daily tide time. A total of 500 people per group is allowed at a time, and an entire group should be out before the next group goes in.
  2. Visitors in the Geopark and the "Parting the Sea" area shall maintain a social distance (1.5 meters from others when indoors and 1 meter outdoors), or wear masks the whole time if the distance cannot be maintained.
  3. The group entry schedule for the "Parting the Sea" intertidal zone during the May 1 extended weekend is expected to be 09:00-13:00 on May 1, 10:00-14:30 on May 2, and 11:00-15:30 on May 3. Visitors may refer to the schedule for their travel plan, and the information is also available on-site and on the official website of the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration.

The Penghu National Scenic Area Administration would like to call for everyone's attention in personal hygiene, social distancing, frequent cleaning of hands, and the use of hand sanitizers when entering closed areas (visitor centers) or public areas during the epidemic control period. People should avoid going to crowded places, and wearing face masks is required if social distancing cannot be adopted. Visitors should also cooperate with efforts to check body temperature. For those who feel unwell, please call the toll-free epidemic control hotline at 1922, wear face masks, and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Inform doctors of your travel history, occupation type, contact history, and whether it is a cluster infection.

As crowds tend to be dense at popular attractions, the risk of epidemic transmission can only be reduced if everyone actively cooperates with the control measures. The Central Epidemic Command Center has established guidelines for public gatherings, large business premises, and social distancing in response to the Coronavirus epidemic. The general public shall cooperate with the various control measures introduced for tourist attractions.
