“2025 Penghu Bay Rhapsody”: Folk Song 50 in Penghu - Beautiful Bay Edition, Legendary folk singers perform to captivated audiences!

 The “2025 Penghu Bay Rhapsody”, meticulously organized by the Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, MOTC (herein after referred to as the Penghu Administration), had its grand opening at Aimen Golden Beach, Lintou, on Friday, August 8. The event was hosted by the Director of the Penghu Administration, Chen-Ling Kuo and included many guests and media representatives, including the Vice Speaker of the Penghu County Council, Kai-Yuan Lan, the Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, Penghu County Government, Mei-Fan Liu, the Penghu County Council Member, Chun-Chin Lu Huang, the Penghu County Council Member, Jen-Ho Chang, the Deputy Director of the Marine National Park Headquarters, National Park Service, Ministry of the Interior, Shang-Ching Lin, and the Mayor of the Huxi Township, Penghu County, Jhen-Jhong Chen. All of these special guests came together to kick off this year’s unique and innovative theme, “Jamming in Aimen”. Legendary folk singers were invited to give live performances at the “Folk Song 50 in Penghu - Beautiful Bay Edition”, the first themed concert of the “2025 Penghu Bay Rhapsody”, to bring back popular folk songs to evoke warm feelings of nostalgia in the audience as they vibed together in the cool sea breeze of the summer night.

The first concert, starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, featured legendary folk singers Chien-Fu Li and Ara Kimbo, creative giants Joseph Yeh, Chao-Mei Tai and Hung-Ming Chen, folk divas Michelle Pan and Wawa Jin, the folk prince Chi-Chen Lo, the folk talent Allen Chao, soaring voices from College City singers Pei-Tsen Tu, Li-Ting Lan, and Eva Hu, as well as the golden duo known for their reinterpretation of folk classics, the Southern Duo. The lineup brought together representative figures from the Golden Rhyme Awards, Folk Style, and College City movements through to the New Folk era. The moving voices and beloved songs enchanted the audience, who couldn’t help but sing and hum along in delight. After the performances, the audience enthusiastically called for an encore. Adding to the special Friday night (August 8) performance, a further “Folk Song 50 in Penghu - Beautiful Bay Edition” show was held on Saturday (August 9). The performance on Saturday (9th) had the same exciting lineup as the night before plus additional singers, including three Golden Melody Award winners—Johnny Yin, the heavenly voice queen, Christine Hsu, the folk song talent, Meng-Lin Wang—along with the soaring voices of the legendary Campus Folk singers, Coco Fang and Yu-Wei Hsieh. Fans of folk music couldn’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience classic folk songs on the stunning golden sands of Aimen Beach!

In addition to the wonderful folk song concerts, the Penghu Administration also organized a variety of side events, including treasure hunting on the beach, beach yoga, and a rhapsody market. The treasure hunt included ‘time eggs’ that contained questions related to the local customs and practices of Penghu buried in bunkers for participants to find. Those who answered correctly not only had opportunities to win exquisite gifts, they also had opportunities to take photos with the folk artists. The responses on the scene were very enthusiastic and the beach was filled with joyful laughter. The 9 p.m. beach yoga event allowed participants to perform beach yoga with instructors under the starry sky with the soothing sounds of the waves rolling onto the beach adding to the relaxing atmosphere. Participants praised the dedication of the organizers. Finally, the rhapsody market began at 4 p.m. and featured over 20 unique stalls that offered local specialties, handicrafts, and souvenirs, allowing all visitors to enjoy authentic Penghu flavors while amidst the music and games.

“Folk Song 50 in Penghu - Beautiful Bay Edition” was the perfect way to kick off the “2025 Penghu Bay Rhapsody” and the exciting events will continue! On Friday, August 15, the “Style and Fun Edition”, featuring popular singers and band, such as ADEN Wang and PAPUN Band, will be held. The “Anime Music Edition” will be held on Saturday, August 16, and feature the official group of the Naruto theme song, FLOW, as well as various other popular idol groups and singers. Finally, the “Unexpected Edition”, will be held on Saturday, August 23, and include many popular domestic and foreign artists, including DJ Soda and Namewee Wee Meng Chee.
