Penghu National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOTC has organized the 2017 New Year press conference on the 2nd of this month at Longsing Restaurant, besides making New Year greetings to attending media friends, the newly-appointed director, Cheng-Kuang Fang also reported the 2017 tourism marketing direction from Penghu National Scenic Area Administration.
 
2017 is the first year for Tourism Bureau, MOTC to initiate ecological tour, and is also the “International Sustainable Tourism Development Year” announced by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Director Cheng-Kuang Fang stressed that Penghu National Scenic Area Administration will actively promote ecological tour this year in collaboration with the Tourism Bureau’s policy, for instance, promoting local tour through “Trial Program on Experience Tourism and Light Up Village”, guiding community to head towards implementing environmental education, establishing environmental sustainability awareness, as well as management systems such as promoting self-managed guided tours, contributing the benefits to the local and mutual enjoyment…etc.
 
Secondly, in order for visitors to implement conservational concepts through ecological tours, in addition to Jibei Cultural Museum of Stone Tidal Weirs – which was the first environmental education venue certified in Penghu at the end of 2014, as well as conducting teacher training to enrich environmental teacher quality in 2016, Penghu National Scenic Area Administration will further promote “Courses for Jibei Cultural Museum of Stone Tidal Weirs Environmental Venue and Planning for Penghu Ecological Tour” this year, hoping that ecological conservation may become deep-rooted for development. Moreover, the projects on “Jibei Sand Beach Coast Monitoring Program” and “Establishment of Recreation Load Bearing Capacity Survey Estimation and Service Model” are being conducted, thereby observing the changing conditions of Jibei Sand Beach ecology, as well as understand the load bearing capacity for the recreation spots, thus avoiding the touring quality from been affected by the large number of visitors rushing in along with the growing number of visitors year by year, causing alterations to the ecological environment.
 
Furthermore, in order to attract more visitors to visit Penghu during autumn and winter seasons to experience the magnificence of Penghu’s autumn and winter, Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has held the series of event on “Penghu Autumn Festival” last year, which has attracted visitors’ participation and was well received. This year, it will continue to organize the “Penghu Autumn Festival” event series, planning on launching autumn and winter based thematic tours including “Penghu Lights & Shadows Art Combined with 3D Light Projection Show”, as well as “Penghu Festival”, while continue with marketing and promoting Penghu’s local cultural characteristic events, such as Lantern Festival Qigui and Shigandang culture, so as to make a breakthrough for Penghu’s off season while extending the tourism peak season.
 
Director Fang further indicated, the 2018 annual meeting for The Most Beautiful Bays in the World will be held in Penghu, and other than continuing to market and promote the beauty of Penghu, Penghu National Scenic Area Administration will also collaborate with Penghu County Government to jointly promote bay tourism year of 2018, using marketing strategies of “Excellence, Characteristic, Wisdom, Sustainability” to transform Penghu into an international holiday resort island.
