In order to promote Taiwan’s most charming stone tablet and stone spire cultures, Penghu National Scenic Area Administration has taken notice of recent trends and launched the “Winter in Penghu: Fun with Stones” event. From November 20, 2016 till February 10, 2017, it hopes to attract more visitors to witness and explore the touching stories and mythical legends among the alleyways and villages of Penghu. Take your time to enjoy different journeys and have fun with stones during winter in Penghu.
In order to successfully market the event and increase the fun, this year “Winter in Penghu: Fun with Stones” specially features the mascot “Penghu Hulk” from Penghu National Scenic Area Administration. This mascot launches the events “Have Fun with Stones and the Hulk” and “Winter Stone Adventure: Collect Stamps to Enter a Prize Draw”. For those who visit Penghu between November 20, 2016 and February 10, 2017, an event brochure and stone tablet stamp collection card may be claimed from the Penghu Airport Visitor Information Center or Penghu Visitor Center upon show of plane (boat) ticket to Penghu and ID document. Those who collect five stamps from different stone tablets (stone spires) during the event may then place their ticket into the prize draw box for a chance to win several prizes, including a sports camera and a tablet PC (a total of 35 prizes are available; one draw prize entry per person). Moreover, the first 200 participants who take photos with four or more stone tablets will receive a “Penghu Hulk”-shaped USB. Simply upload the photos to the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration’s “Fun in Penghu” fan page, and then show the post to the reception counter at Penghu Visitor Center.
In order to promote Penghu’s stone tablet culture, a different concept to the summer tours was created, including exploration, interaction, and sharing games. For example, which stone tablet is “the biggest in Taiwan”, “the highest in Penghu”, or “the cutest”. Besides increasing the attractiveness of off-season Penghu tours, this project also aims to create in-depth cultural journeys that differ from general travel routes. This will allow people to learn more about the history and culture of stone tablets which is closely related to the lives of the Penghu people. By recommending this traditional culture to visitors in Penghu, exposure to recreational sites in the surrounding area will help them to become local tourist attractions during the winter. We invite all Penghu people and visitors to assist in this promotion, and to encourage family and friends to explore the alleyways in order to discover the legends of stone tablets and experience the deep beauty of Penghu. Please browse our official website or visit the “Fun in Penghu” fan page on Facebook for detailed event information.
