To welcome the year of snake, a spring couplet writing and distribution event entitled “Golden Snake Announces the Coming of Spring on the Chrysanthemum Island of Penghu” will soon take place from 09:00 to 12:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Penghu Tourist Industry Promotion Center.

At the center, a number of famous calligraphy artists will be writing spring couplets that will then be given to attendants for free. It is jointly held to by the National Penghu Scenic Area Administration, the Tourist Department of the Penghu County Government, the Penghu County Calligraphy Association, Profound Duty-free Shop and the Penghu Love and Self-help Association for Youths of the Military Dependants’ Village.

A follow-up event, “Decorating Your Home with Creative Spring Couplets,” will take place from 09:00 to 12:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Duxing New Military Dependants’ Village. Volunteers and members of the organizing groups will clean up the village and put up creative spring couplets to welcome visitors during the lunar New Year. This shows that Penghu is ready to receive visitors with even greater hospitality. Its rich culture is also waiting to be explored.
