To showcase the diverse cycling infrastructure of Penghu and promote eco-friendly tourism, the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and the Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters ("Penghu NSA") hosted the "2024 Penghu Cycling Festival" press conference. The event aims to highlight the achievements in developing Penghu's diverse cycling network and underscore the importance of eco-friendly transportation for tourism. It will integrate promotions for "Local Professional Cycling Guide Services," "Encouraging In-depth Exploration and Demonstrative Tours," and the "Penghu 101K Hopping Bike” events, welcoming cyclists from all over Taiwan to experience the refreshing sea breeze, indulge in delicious local seafood, and discover the breathtaking beauty of one of the world's most beautiful bays, cruising at a leisurely speed of 20 kilometers per hour.

The 2024 Penghu Cycling Festival series of events will commence with the spring season running from March 1st to June 30th, followed by the autumn season from September 1st to November 30th. The "Guided Cycling Tour Service" aims to provide cyclists with a richer and more immersive understanding of Penghu, often hailed as one of the world's most beautiful bays. The Penghu NSA, in collaboration with the Penghu County Cycling Association, is proud to introduce Taiwan's highest-quality free guided cycling tour service. Groups of cyclists with five members or more can now enjoy guided tours led by experienced cycling guides, providing them with deeper insights into the charms of Penghu. Reservations can be made via the registration form at least seven days in advance. In addition, the Penghu NSA is supporting the development of cycling tourism by guiding the Penghu Tourist Bicycle Rental Station in offering 30 21-speed bicycles and two electric-assist bicycles at the Nanhai Visitor Center, aiming to enhance the riding experience and rental rate for cyclists.

As part of the second wave of highlight events, coinciding with the cross-Taiwan cycling event on 2024 World Bicycle Day, the "Cool Summer Breeze Penghu Cycling Tour" event will be launched. Cyclists will embark on a coastal journey along bikeways in Huxi Township, immersing themselves in the invigorating sea breeze, serenaded by the melodious chirping of birds, and treated to vistas of endless blue skies and pristine white beaches. Additionally, participants get to visit the "Penghu Jianshan Power Plant" for ecological and environmental education, advocating for the adoption of environmentally friendly and ecologically sustainable practices. This event aims to seamlessly blend education with recreation, allowing participants to revel in their cycling adventures in Penghu while gaining meaningful insights into environmental conservation.

The crowning event of the festival is none other than the "Penghu 101K Hopping Bike" scheduled for September 22nd. This exciting occasion presents two distinct categories: a challenging 101-kilometer route for those seeking to push their limits and a family-friendly 22-kilometer leisure route. Along the way, participants will traverse iconic landmarks such as Shili Beach, the Suogang Bicycle Rest Stop, Beiliao Moses Parts the Sea, the Penghu Great Bridge, and the Yuwengdao Lighthouse, all set amidst culturally and naturally rich surroundings. Cyclists will have the opportunity to savor Penghu's unique snacks, including brown sugar cakes and savory pastries, at rest stops along the way. Upon reaching the finish line, a wide variety of Penghu-style delicacies await, including delectable seafood congee made from freshly harvested oysters and cobia fish, squid balls, shrimp cakes, and silver round herring fish, ensuring a lavish feast for every participant.

For the finishing touch, the organizers will present a limited-edition "Seafood Of Your Dreams Gift Box," showcasing rare and exquisite treasures from the sea. This exclusive box features one speckled blue grouper, renowned as the "Blue Sapphire of the Sea," one tender and succulent snubnose pompano, and the chin of a tiger grouper, a starfish species in Penghu, all marked with the "Penghu Seafood" label, guaranteeing exceptional seafood quality with excellent aquaculture product certifications. Cyclists from across Taiwan are invited to visit Penghu, where you can embark on a day-long island-hopping expedition, enjoying the sea breeze and savoring seafood delicacies.

Event ambassador Chen Yu attended the press conference and expressed excitement about cycling in Penghu, where cyclists can enjoy stunning coastal scenery and explore ancient Minnan-style settlements. Serendipitous encounters with world-class columnar basalt landscapes await, and if time permits, cyclists can even take their bikes on a ferry to experience island-hopping cycling. With pleasant surprises at every turn, cycling in Penghu promises an unforgettable experience!

Director General Hung Chih-Kuang of the Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters also extends a warm invitation to cyclists from all over Taiwan. With a celebratory spirit, we welcome all cyclists to the pedal paradise of Penghu to participate in this premier cycling event, which will run for several months until the end of November. The "2024 Penghu Cycling Festival" will feature a series of cycling events, offering non-stop excitement until the end of November. We encourage everyone to call on their friends and embark on a cycling adventure in Penghu, where you can experience the unique charm of island cycling at a leisurely pace of 20 km per hour.
