The application for the grand finale of 2017 Penghu Autumn Sport Madness, the “2017 Penghu Chrysanthemum Island Cross-sea Marathon” is about to end. This is the first non-looping “point-A-to-point-B” marathon held at the offshore island of Taiwan and the competition will start on Nov. 19 (Sun.) at the Penghu Siyu Tourist Center. There are three races available for participants to choose from, including the Green Sea Turtle Group (42.195K full marathon), Sundance Group (21K half marathon) and Oriental Skylark Group (5K). For the full marathon, it will be the first marathon to start in Siyu, head west towards Yuwengdao Lighthouse, cross numerous islands, and head back to Magong by crossing the Penghu Great Bridge. This competition will include the classic trail of crossing the sea and islands. The ranking trophies for the full marathon and half marathon winners were designed by world-class designer Xiao Qing-yang based on the materials and elements of marine driftwood, creating trophies with the appearance of a “yacht” and the “Yuwengdao Lighthouse.” They contain multiple contexts of caring for the ocean, environmental and ecological protection and protecting the beautiful marine bays while also having great collection value! The medals for completing the race were designed based on “Sundance,” an endemic species of Penghu, and the geological features of the starting point “Siyu.” At the back of the medal, the inscriptions of “Chrysanthemum Island” and “World’s Beautiful Marine Bay” are carved, making this “sport jogging X low-carbon trail” trip more meaningful. Why are you hesitating? Just bring along your jogging shoes and take part in it! Please refer to the event website for application.
