The 2018 Penghu Arts Festival “The Rising Wind” Achievement Exhibition

The Most Beautiful Bays in the World Carnival – 2018 was held grandly at Penghu. The “Penghu Arts Festival” organized by the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration, Tourism Bureau, MOTC also rises with this opportunity. With the exhibition theme of “The Rising Wind,” it takes visitors on an exploration of the wonderful experience of Penghu’s autumn and winter seasons through the four main directions including art, workshop, food and journey.
 
The Arts Festival invited three artists in total, including Jan Ankiersztajn from Poland, Shahril Faisal from Malaysia and Cheng-Tsung Feng from Taiwan to be stationed in Penghu and create three pieces of landscape installations, which interact with the ocean wind, including the Wings, the Spinning Gasing and the Winds Urchin, thereby creating a conversation between humans and nature. The three artists also visited Paisha Junior High School, Fongguei Elementary School and Shihli Elementary School during the period of their stay in Penghu, they held forums as well as workshops for the children in Penghu to share the fun of art creation with the local people.
 
Moreover, popular chef Ching-Min Lin was also invited to hold several feasts at Lintou Beach during the Arts Festival, using local seasonal food ingredients, flowers and plants from Penghu to create an unprecedented dining experience that connects closely to nature through colors, fragrances and tastes. Two local young people who returned to their hometown, including Chin-Wen Fang of 9527 Café and Shih-En Huang of Grassroots & Fruit applied local materials, such as Glossogyne tenuifolia tea and dried sardines to develop a new cocktail exclusive to the local people, introducing nostalgic cocktail party at the Jingan Fish-drying Field.
 
The season-limited characteristic travel itinerary planning further connected several of Penghu’s local characteristic proprietors, including Syusi Pastry Shop, Hudong Community, Daofu Daoshi, Daobien Zuor, etc., taking visitors on an in-depth tour of the local secret hideouts and to savor the characteristic fishing village dishes only available in autumn and winter as well as participate in local traditional cultural sentiments through activities including turtle-shaped cake, dried fish beating, grassroots shoe weaving, etc.
 
The three pieces of art landscape installations have already been relocated to the lawn in front of the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration after the Arts Festival. They continue to welcome everyone to Penghu along with the Penghu ocean wind. Moreover, the achievements exhibition will be held at the Cultural Gallery on the second floor of the Penghu Airport from December 21, 2018 to January 6, 2019. In the exhibition, one may see the prototypes and sketches of the landscape art during the creation process, the outcomes of creations by Penghu children with the guidance from the artists as well as the splendid documentation of the earth feasts, characteristic cocktails and characteristic tours.
