The Penghu National Scenic Area Headquarters (Penghu NSA Headquarters) under the Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, held its 2025 year-end press conference on January 15, presenting the year’s achievements in tourism marketing and sustainable management, while outlining key policy priorities for the coming year. Penghu NSA Headquarters also expressed sincere appreciation to media partners for their longstanding support in promoting Penghu, enabling the county’s tourism strength and brand appeal to continue rising and creating new opportunities for development.
In response to the increasingly diversified travel market, Penghu NSA Headquarters actively organized and promoted a wide range of tourism events. In addition to signature activities such as the Wangan Half Marathon in spring, the 2025 Four Seasons Penghu Travel Campaign, the Penghu Island-Hopping 101K Hopping Bike Event, the Penghu Music Festival, and the Gaillardia Islands Penghu Cross-Sea Marathon, Penghu NSA Headquarters also connected Penghu’s iconic Golden Coast—Aimen and Lintou Beaches—to launch the inaugural 2025 Penghu Bay Rhapsody. Through themed music performances and beach leisure activities, the event successfully showcased Penghu’s distinctive island tourism character.
In recent years, Penghu NSA Headquarters has worked to enhance the overall recreational environment and service quality. In 2025, several notable construction projects were completed, including renovations of Zhongtun Cycling Path recreational service facilities; Phase II improvements to the Zhongtun Wind Farm cycling rest station; parking upgrades at Dongwei Stone Sculpture Park; refurbishment of the Jibei Visitor Center; enhancements to the Jibei Stone Weir Cultural Museum and surrounding facilities; and reconstruction of the Lintou–Aimen Golden Coast wooden boardwalk. Looking ahead to 2026, Penghu NSA Headquarters will continue to advance major infrastructure projects, including reconstruction of the Beihai Visitor Center; renovation of the Jibei Floating Pier; improvements to recreational facilities adjacent to the Jibei excursion boat floating pier; reconstruction of the Chikan Floating Pier; construction of the Wangan Passenger Terminal; and a turnkey project for the Donghai Visitor Center. These initiatives aim to create a more visitor-friendly and distinctive tourism service environment.
Through the dedicated efforts of Penghu NSA Headquarters staff and industry partners, the agency received numerous accolades across various fields in 2025. The Aimen Beach Service Facilities project won the Gold Award and National First Prize in the Public Construction Category at the National Golden Award for Architecture. Qimei Island was honored as one of Taiwan’s “Top Ten Tourism Spotlights.” The documentary film The Rhythm of the Tide: Exploring the Islands of Penghu garnered multiple international awards, including recognition at the London International Filmmaker Festival and the Berlin Independent Film Awards. In sustainable tourism, after more than three years of preparation, Penghu National Scenic Area earned the QualityCoast Silver Award following document review and on-site inspection by the Green Destinations Foundation based in the Netherlands. The project “Rebirth of the Coral: Restoring and Protecting Penghu’s Underwater Garden” was selected as one of the 2025 Green Destinations Top 100 Stories. In addition, the film Protecting the Faithful Ocean Travelers received the Bronze Award in the Sustainability Microfilm category at the 9th Taipei Golden Eagle Micro Movie Festival. These achievements highlight Penghu’s strength in both infrastructure development and tourism programming, further elevating its presence on the international stage.
In 2026, tourism marketing efforts will continue to build on signature festivals, including the second edition of the Penghu Bay Rhapsody, while further promoting year-round travel. To expand visitor markets and encourage longer stays, the Penghu NSA Headquarters will introduce themed itineraries that integrate local cultural traditions, ecotourism, immersive storytelling experiences, and sports and leisure activities, guiding visitors to explore Penghu through a more in-depth and leisurely travel approach.
Director-General Kuo Chen-ling stated that developing Penghu into an internationally recognized sustainable tourism island remains the core vision of the Penghu NSA Headquarters. Looking ahead to 2026, in addition to continuing to implement key policy priorities such as ecological education, universal accessibility, and tourism marketing, the agency will work hand in hand with public- and private-sector partners to further strengthen the “World’s Most Beautiful Bays” brand and sustain the growth momentum of Penghu’s tourism development.
