The Xianjiao Island is situated south of the Jibeiyu Island, the Baisha Township in Penghu County, and north of Chikan. This place won its name because submerged reefs surround it, but the neighboring underwater resource is so rich, making this an excellent spot for snorkeling. In addition to the abrasion platform formed by a small rock on the east half of Xianjiao Island, most of the island is a white sand beach composed of sand grains, shells and coral fragments. From the distance, it looks just like a patch of white sand interlacing with the coastline, offering a fascinating view. It is a perfect place to go snorkeling and see groups of tropical fishes and beautiful coral reefs.

Why is the island named "Xianjiao"? The Chinese term refers to the dangerous submerged reefs surrounding the coast, where any ship risks accidentally colliding with these treacherous obstacles, resulting in potential sinking. This name vividly underscores the inherent danger of the awe-inspiring submerged reefs beneath the sea. The term "Xianjiao" reveals the true dangers of the coast and also warns passing boats to exercise caution in these waters.
