In order to promote the 2017 ecological tour from the Tourism Bureau, MOTC, Penghu National Scenic Area Administration specially commissioned professor Cheng-Hao Lu from National Penghu University of Science and Technology to jointly organize the event on “Sustainable Landscape Salon Seminar and Quick Landscape Trip” with the Penghu Visitor Center on July 15th. This event is based currently on popular landscapes of Penghu as the theme, and has invited experts and scholars such as chairman Yi-Chin Yen of Taiwan Institute of Applied Geotechnical Technician[LT1] , chairman Dr. Chi-Yu Li of Taiwan Tourism Geological Association[LT2] , as well as professor Shih-Cheng Chi from the Department of Geography, National Kaohsiung Normal University to give lectures on topics including “Geologic History and Landscape Resources of Penghu”, “Witness the Beauty and Sorrow of Crossing the Red Sea from Landscape Monitoring”, “Comparison and Future Progress Scope for Local Tour Planning of Penghu and Same Type of Scenic Areas in Nearby Countries”, as well as the “Observation and Explanation on Landscapes”. More than a hundred people attended, and besides participating students, there were also participants from Penghu local tourism personnel, B&B owners, school teachers as well as community volunteers, hoping to allow visitors to learn about the mystery of Penghu’s geology and terrain through simple but profound introduction, as well as allowing everyone to treasure the environmental resources via vivid explanations, and to share the latest research from teachers together with the correct concepts towards nature. In the afternoon, everyone met up at the South Sea Visitor Information Center to take a boat towards Hujing and Tongpan to experience a quick trip, allowing the stories of the geographical magnificent sceneries to take root in visitors’ hearts.

Director Cheng-Kuang Fang of Penghu National Scenic Area Administration indicated that this year is the “2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development” for the United Nations, whereas the Tourism Bureau, MOTC also positioned this year as the “2017 Ecological Tour Year”, hoping through local in-depth experience events to transform the superficial tourism style of Penghu into in-depth travel content, to bring forth new ideas towards the existing travel style, to embed education in order to allow employees with professional tourism knowledge and explanation skills, as well as to stimulate people’s emphasis towards landscape conservation, thereby enhancing Penghu’s tourism service quality and diversification.
