Jiangjunaoyu

In early years the local residents had made a fortune by gathering corals, and the isle hence became wealthy and flourishing. Arrays of houses piled against one another along the streets near the fishing port. Owing to the atmosphere of a port city, the islet was also praised as "Small Hong Kong".

Yuanyang Hole, Jiangjyun Cave

“Mandarin ducks dabbling water — Yuanyang Hole” is situated northeast of Wang an Island and it is a naturally formed valley. Legend has it that in the early days there were many water holes here, and mandarin ducks used to dabble with water and rest here.

Tiantai Hill

Tiantai Hill is situated on Wang an Island. Gangciou Grassland is the highest place on Tiantai Hill, and nearby is the place for the famous Penghu aragonite. The surrounding grassland is flat with occasional cattle or goats trotting by and forming a naturally beautiful scene. Tiantai Hill has become the best place to watch Wang an Island and Huayu from a distance.

Jhongshe Historical House

Jhongshe historical house is one of the more well-preserved traditional houses in Penghu County. It was originally named “Flower House” because of the legend that when this village was first established, their ancestors looked at the local terrain, and discovered that the mountains surrounding the place are just like lotus petals.

Wangankou Beach

Wangankou beach is called the “Dream Beach”. It has soft white sand accompanied by clear blue ocean. Such a beautiful place can only be found in fairy tales! Whenever the tide rises the clean white beach will enter the clear blue ocean. When watched from a distance it looks just like a skirt swaying in the wind. When the night falls the sky above Wangankou will shine a starry sky, and if you are lucky you might even be visited by a meteor.

Green Turtle Tourism and Conservation Center

In 1994, the first green turtle wearing a satellite tracker “Wang an No.1” set out from Wang an in Penghu. It passed Taiwan Strait, through East China Sea Shelf, up to an island south of Kyushu in Japan. It spent three years and traveled 3400km back to Penghu, which provided an important record for the research of sea turtle ecological history in Taiwan.

Nanyu Castle

Nanyu Castle

Nanyu Castle is Qi mei's defense installation used to fight off foreign attacks in the early days, on the inside of the arch basaltic door, there is a "Nanyu Castle Refurbishment Record" tablet embedded. The entire Nanyu Castle was built by basalt rocks, with a square and grandeur layout, and the arched castle gate reveals a slight scent of the old days; in the evening, basked in the soft sunset, there is even a sense of romanticism to it.

Twin Hearts Stone Weir

There are totals of 558 stone weirs in Penghu, and up to 88 of them are distributed around Jibeiyu. They rank first in the world both in terms of number and density. Local ancestors fed generations of offspring toiling away with these stone weir, therefore, Jibeiyu has all the reasons in the world to be called “home of the stone weir”.

Little Taiwan

Little Taiwan

Little Taiwan sits in Donghu Village of Qi mei Township, Penghu County, and  northeast of Qi mei Island. Take the coast expressway from Nioumuping and head north. then go up a slope until you reach a gazebo, look down and you will see the result of the years of wave erosion. It will be forming an abrasion platform shaped like a small Taiwan, so that's why it is called Qi mei Little Taiwan.  There is also a rock shaped like Gueishan Island in the same spot, they look even more obvious when the tide is low.

Dragon Sea-eroded Platform

Dragon Sea-eroded Platform

The platform has been forming while a laminated ground which is composed of alternate layers of toph and basalt is being eroded by sea waves. Looking down from the cliff, you can see green, white, grey, and brown curved lines snaking on the platform. Since the platform looks like a dragon rising and rolling in the azure sea under the blue sky, it is called "Longcheng"—which means "the dragon plaza".
