Scope of Penghu National Scenic Area’s management
The scope of Penghu National Scenic Area’s management was officially delineated and announced in April 2991. The Tourism Bureau established the “Penghu National Scenic Area Administration” which is in charge of promoting tourism development. “Urban planning” related authority remains with the county government. Responsibility for “Non urban planning” related tourism and recreation administration management work was transferred from the county government to the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration. The Tourism Bureau’s “Study of Scenic Area Organizational Systems and Human Resource Allocation” points out that the main functions of national level scenic areas should include: tourism and recreation planning and services, development, construction, and maintenance, supervision of various commercial operations and carrying out of cleaning service and safety management. Matters that are the responsibility of local government according to related regulations are supervised by Penghu County Government.
